About the Bakery
Pursuit of Pastry is a classic French-inspired bakery in the heart of Old Saybrook. Opened in 2012, we offer comfortable seating and fresh-brewed coffee daily, along with a wide array of scratch-made treats in our pastry case, such as cream puffs, croissants, muffins, whoopie pies, a variety of cookies, baked donuts, cupcakes and more.
Grab a loaf of any of our fresh-baked breads on your way out.
On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays we bake pecan sticky buns for well-deserved weekend decadence.
At Pursuit of Pastry, we approach each day as an opportunity to do something new. We love creating with seasonal ingredients and truly enjoy getting into the spirit of each and every holiday. But there are some things you can always count on seeing in the case (unless we sell out, that is). Take a look at some of our creations in our photo galleries, and let us know if you have any questions.
Or hire us for your wedding, shower or birthday party. We bake and decorate exceptional tiered cakes with fine attention to detail. Visit our Weddings page to see the options, or give us a call.
About the Owner
In my first career as wife and mother, my children often asked me, “Mommy, what did you want to be when you grew up?” The answer was always Pastry Chef. It was my childhood dream.
I felt blessed to be able to stay home with my young children. We lived in a small town with many stay-at-home moms and had a fulfilling life.
When the children started school, I earned a degree from the University of Connecticut and enjoyed a rewarding 12-year career counseling young adults with learning disabilities. For fun, I took classes at Johnson and Wales and fell in love with pastry all over again.
After graduating, I knew it was time to follow that childhood dream. I found a location and opened a place where people feel at home enjoying treats in an atmosphere filled with love and sweetness.
Years later, we are going strong and have been continually voted a winner in the E-List’s Best of the Shoreline Reader’s Poll. We love what we do and let that passion shine through our work. We hope you feel it, too.
